BYP Fund
Bristol Young Professionals has a fund with the Quartet Community Foundation. Quartet is a Bristol-based charity who have managed funds on behalf of individuals and groups throughout the South-West since 1987.

Quartet manages over 130 charitable funds which award over £2.5 million worth of grants every year to those in the most need throughout the local community.
Quartet has had a fund for young people in Bristol to donate to since 2003. This fund was previously called ‘Bristol 500’ due to its aim to attract 500 people to give at least £5 a month. In order to reflect the link with BYP the fund has now been renamed ‘Bristol Young Professionals Fund’.
Members of the BYP are encouraged to set up a regular contribution to the fund of £5 a month which can be done here. The BYP also donate to the fund from other fundraising initiatives throughout the year. The aim is to grow the fund, using half of the contributions to make one or two major grants a year and the remaining half to grow a long-term fund – an endowment fund – retaining the capital and using the income generated for future grants.
The Committee organise experience days and volunteering sessions through Quartet for BYP members to make a difference alongside their donations.
BYP FUND ACTIVITY 2010/2011
Thank you to all those who have contributed to the BYP fund this year, and welcome to those of you who have just joined us. Together, we can make a massive difference to local causes, and we aim to support young people in the city we all know and love. If you would like to get involved, please click here.
To keep you updated, the BYP Fund has recently supported Radio Dynamic – a project aiming to get young people involved, and experienced, in broadcasting on radio, preparing adverts and running the radio as a commercial business – earning revenue from local businesses who were kind enough to donate to the same scheme as us. Those involved worked in teams to research their shows, broadcast daily on local issues and events, and become competent in using radio equipment. They also scripted, recorded and produced adverts for local businesses, thus offering their own support to the wider community. A very positive project, it was a fantastic scheme for BYP to support – it provided integration for young people with the community, provided them with a variety of broadcasting skills and business experience to use in their futures.
If you would like further information, have any comments or suggestions for what you would like to support, or would be interested in attending a ‘behind the scenes’ visit of some local charitable or community causes, please contact Katie Metcalf (k.metcalf@gardiner.com ).
